The heart of the 2024 ProRodeo season is in full swing with July well underway, and the team roping world standings are seeing major movement as some of the biggest rodeos of the year kick off.
From the NFR Open and Cheyenne, to Salt Lake City and Salinas, there’s major money on the line, continuously shaking up the world standings.
When you’re hot, you’re hot
Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira are on a heater this July, now moving into No. 1 in the world for Driggers and Nogueira No. 2 on the heel side. The 2021 and 2022 World Champions took home their first national circuit titles July 13, at the NFR Open. Driggers and Nogueira pocketed $16,000 each in their trip to Colorado Springs, bumping them both from third in the standings after their record-breaking Cowboy Christmas where they cashed in $47,275 a man.
Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp cash in in Casper
The reigning World Champions Tyler Wade and Wesley Thorp picked up the Central Wyoming Fair & PRCA Rodeo win in Casper, Wyoming, July 9-13, with a 15.6 on three steers for $3,838 a man. Between their win in the first round and the short round, they also nabbed $3,748 each, bringing their weekend in Casper to $7,586 a man. Casper adds to their July momentum, which picked up right at the end of the Fourth run.
Since the end of Cowboy Christmas, Wade and Thorp has raked in $23,765 a man, bringing their world standings earnings to $69,082.30 each.
Bray brothers pick up Sheridan win
Wyatt and Paden Bray took home the Sheridan WYO Rodeo win, July 10-13, marking Wyatt’s first big ProRodeo win. Wyatt and Paden pocketed $9,985 a man in Sheridan after picking up third in the first round with a 5.6 ($2,374 a man), second in the second round with a 5.2 ($2,793 a man) and first in the average with a 10.8 on two ($4,818 a man). Both Wyatt and Paden have spent majority of the 2024 season inside the top 30, with Wyatt currently No. 27 with $37,823.36 won on the year and Paden No. 30 with $34,959.09.
Other wins
Riley Minor and Brady Minor picked up $4,331 each for the Silver State Stampede win in Elko, Nevada, with a 4.6-second run. The Minors are just outside the Top 15 with $45,228.91 won on the year, putting Riley at 21st and Brady at 20th.
Nelson Wyatt and Jonathan Torres are keeping themselves inside the Top 15, adding $2,201 to their earnings. Wyatt and Torres won the Ute Stampede in Nephi, Utah, July 11-13, with a 5.4-second run. Wyatt sits No. 12 in the world standings with $62,530.73 won on the year and Torres is No. 6 on the heel side with $78,247.45.
