The Cinch Timed Event Championship has looked like a two-man race between 19-year-old rookie Ketch KeltonKetch Kelton and 47-year-old two-time Ironman Champ Kyle Lockett, with the duo separated by 27.5 seconds heading into Round 5 of the 2025 event at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, March 1.

Three-time and reigning Cinch Timed Event Champion Paul David Tierney is waiting in the wings with a 337.4 on 20 head entering the final five steers of the event that pays $100,000 to the winners, $35,000 to second, $15,000 to third (full payout below.)

Full Cinch Timed Event Championship Aggregate Payout

  1. $100,000
  2. $35,000
  3. $15,000
  4. $10,000
  5. $7,500
  6. $5,000
  7. $4,500
  8. $3,000

Kelton and Lockett have been one-two in the aggregate since the second round, and Kelton has two go-round wins under his belt already—worth a cool $6,000 in the bank.

“There’s always steers you gotta get around, and calves you have to get around,” Lockett, of Visalia, California, said. “You have to have a couple lucky breaks, and you can only do what you can do. You can’t go out there and try to beat Ketch. You can only do what you can do. I feel good, as far as healthiness and everything, I feel good and I’m ready for it to start. I try not to pay attention to much of it. I just want to get each of them knocked down.”

Both Kelton and Lockett have the help of NFR switchender Colter Todd, who’s heading and heeling for both men.

“I don’t think Colter ever gets nervous,” Lockett laughed. “I was lucky to get Colter. Brye Crites was supposed to help me, but he got hurt. Me and my boys were driving to a branding one morning, and I thought of Colter. I don’t remember him being here before. So I called him, and he said he was coming to help Ketch. He said he just was helping one guy, so I asked him if he’d help me too, and he said sure.”

Blane Cox, Erich Rogers, Thomas Smith, John Douch and Billy Good all were sent home after Round 4, with only 15 contestants entering Round 5 in the CTEC’s new elimination-style format implemented in 2024.
