Cody Snow rode 6-year-old SJR Diamond Billy and Hunter Koch rode 6-year-old Canteburys Cherrey to make a 4.0-second run in Round 3 of the 2024 Wrangler National Finals rodeo, the first full team of horses still in their futurity career to make a splash inside the Thomas & Mack.
For their efforts, they split fourth and fifth in a tough round and won $11,410.17 a man.
Snow bought SJR Diamond Billy earlier this year from Southern Ranches, after NFR heeler Billie Jack Saebens showed the horse to $127,205 in lifetime QData earnings. He rode the horse on and off all season while still ducking off to futurities.
SJR Diamond Billie is by CD Diamond and out of Billies Smooth Cat by Smooth As A Cat.
Koch’s Cantebury Cherrey is hot off a win at the Gold Buckle Futurity’s Fall Event in the Intermediate Heeling with co-owner J.D. McGuire, and that horse has earned $93,925 in his show career before becoming Koch’s No. 1 on the rodeo road.
Canteburys Cherrey is by Cantebury Cat out of Cherrey by Dual Rey.
Snow and Koch are 12th and 14th in the PRCA world standings, having won $129,678.95 and $131,689.96, respectively. They’re 12th in the average with a 13.6 on two head going into Round 4.
