With Jackie Crawford’s $60,000 Women’s Rodeo World Championship heeling title behind Martha Angelone on May 20, she became the richest single female in the World Champions Rodeo Alliance’s history with a total of $279,674 won since November 2018.
Crawford won the WCRA’s Windy City Roundup in 2019, marking the first $50,000 check paid to a breakaway roper in history. She’s won 54 total checks at WCRA events, with the largest coming May 20 on the heel side.
“I think the WCRA catapulted the breakaway to a whole different level in all associations, and they’ve raised the bar for women in every event,” Crawford, 41, of Stephenville, Texas, said. “They were the first ones to bring breakaway to the mainstream. They made it immediately equal money. It completely changed the game of the breakaway roping. They didn’t have to be convinced that making it equal was the right thing to do.”

Crawford has been able to nominate her regular ProRodeo and jackpot competition to count toward the WCRA’s leaderboards, making competing for big money at the WCRA’s majors a no-brainer.
“The WCRA just fits into what we’re already doing,” Crawford said. “And it’s been such a blessing to me and my family.” TRJ
