Roping Lesson with Kolton Schmidt: Building Confidence in Your Horses
There’s no better time than now to hone your horsemanship. The staff at The Team Roping Journal is pairing up with the best in the world to provide regular audio tips that you can listen to while you’re riding, roping or just visualizing your runs.

National Finals Rodeo header Kolton Schmidt has honed his horsemanship with the likes of DT Horses’ legendary trainer Shawn Grant, and he’s spending his time during rodeo’s COVID-19 hiatus to instill confidence in his horses with a special set of drills. Applicable on the sled or slow steers, Schmidt’s advice is designed to improve roper’s horsemanship and insure that horses are sharp and focused.
