While Shining Spark achieved remarkable success in the competitive arena, it is through his legacy as a sire that his legend truly solidifies. 

Born from the pairing of two Superhorses—Genuine Doc and the AQHA Hall of Fame mare Diamonds Sparkle—Shining Spark garnered $62,674 in earnings alongside 17 AQHA performance points in reining, securing an AQHA Open Performance Register of Merit (ROM). He became the youngest NRHA $1 million sire in 2002 and was inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2011.

“My greatest passion has always been team roping,” owner Carol Rose shared. “Shining Spark was an exceptional head horse and outstanding steer stopping horse. His incredible speed out of the box and quick stopping ability were unmatched. Unfortunately, the public never witnessed his roping skills, as Bobby Lewis was training him for the World’s Greatest Horseman when an unrelated illness ended that career.”

Shining Spark’s impressive progeny feature 26 AQHA World Champions across various disciplines, including the 2003 Superhorse Shine By The Bay, with total earnings exceeding $10.4 million. His descendants also include the ARHFA World Champion Chics Magic Corona and the 2019 PRCA/AQHA Heel Horse of the Year DT Sugar Chex Whiz, who has become a leading producer in rope horse futurities.
