The pedigrees of the head horses making the short round at the 2023 Equinety Platinum Medal Futurity are wildly diverse, with Metallic Cat being the only sire to produce more than one short-round competitor for the Sept. 2, 2023 short round live on Roping.com from the Lazy E Arena.

Metallic Cat boasts two offspring in the short go: Dakota Kirchenschlager’s Stylin Blue Kitten in the Platinum short round, and Kirchenschlager’s Whisk E Myer in the silver short round. Other prominent bloodlines include One Time Pepto, who appears once as a paternal grandsire and once as a maternal grandsire. Shining Spark and Wimpys Little Step are seen twice each as paternal grandsires.

Bobby Mote has three horses in Saturday’s short round, and two of those horses are bred to fly. Lenas Flashy Guy is in the gold short round, and he’s by the Frenchmans Guy son Traffic Guy. Mote’s in the Silver Short Round on SBD Boons Frenchgirl by Streakin Boon Dox. Luke Atchison is back on two horses as well. He’s second callback in the gold short round on Lean With Daisy, a paternal grandson of Frenchmans Fabulous. He’s also riding Shake Fame in the silver short round, predictably a daughter of Dash Ta Fame out of a Royal Shake Em mare.

The futurity takes place at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Aug. 30–Sept. 2, 2023. With $30,000 added, a divided short round to award all levels of ropers and a top-notch sale Saturday, Sept. 2, the event’s producers are committed to furthering the futurity industry.
