GUTHRIE, OKLAHOMA—Nov. 7, 2022—Reliance Ranches purchased leading rope-horse stallion Show Me The Buckles and stand-out junior stallion Dirty Fling, a nod to the McKinney family’s dedication to raising the bar in the performance horse business.
“Nobody has put more into the rope horse business than Reliance Ranches and Gary McKinney,” Trevor Brazile, 26-time World Champion, said. “Since buying Show Me The Buckles, we’ve been able to showcase his talents and his progeny to the industry. We felt like we elevated the horse’s exposure, but this is a whole new level that goes beyond what we could do for him. This is the best possible next step in the horse’s career.”
The Relentless Remuda’s Trevor Brazile and Miles Baker will continue to raise, train and campaign Show Me The Buckles’ offspring. Brazile and Baker retained a number of breedings to Show Me The Buckles annually, and they are expecting dozens of his babies to hit the ground out of their winningest mares in spring 2023.
“Our commitment to Show Me The Buckles and his colts is steadfast,” Brazile said. “Riding horses like Tuckin Away Buckles, A Big Vintage Buckle and RR Buckles Clubhouse has laid the foundation for the program we want to continue to build. We look forward to investing in his offspring, and those who breed their mares to Show Me The Buckles, for years to come.”
The Relentless Remuda and Solo Select Horses in Whitesboro, Texas, partnered on Dirty Fling, the 2019 homozygous roan stallion by Metallic Cat out of A Streak Of Gin by A Streak Of Fling. Reliance Ranches bought out both partners to own the horse outright and add him to the ranch’s stellar string.
“We’ve always believed Dirty Fling to be the next evolution of the breeding business, and Reliance Ranches is the perfect place to accelerate his rise,” Baker said. “Trevor and I are both looking forward to staying involved with Dirty Fling throughout his training process and showing the world what he can do in the arena.”
Solo Select and the Relentless Remuda are expecting Dirty Fling foals out of 12 standout mares in 2023.
Both stallions’ Ruby Buckle and Riata Buckle enrollments will stay with the horses at their new home at the Lazy E Ranch in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where they’ll be promoted alongside the likes of Woody Be Tuff, Epic Leader, Coronado Cartel and Big Lew.
“We are very excited to purchase the great stallion Show Me the Buckles,” McKinney said. “Trevor and Miles have done an excellent job with him. We hope to continue what they’ve done, looking forward to the promising future with him. We also think Dirty Fling has a great future in training with Trevor and Miles and beyond. We believe he will be another very good stallion for our program.”
