Big Time Movie Star—the standout Paint mare shown to over $110,000 in futurity earnings by Trevor Brazile and Miles Baker—is now owned in partnership with Solo Select, the Relentless Remuda and Bob Tonkin.

The 2018 bay tobiano mare by Shady Lil Starlight out of the Paint mare A Masters Hobby by A Master Plan is the 2021 APHA World Champion Open Heel Horse. She has stood at Select Genes for ICSI aspirations throughout 2023, where she’ll continue her career in the breeding shed under the new partnership.

“We want to keep a lot of her babies and try them ourselves,” Brazile said. “We were careful in who we partnered with on this mare, because it’s our priority that she becomes the producer she’s capable of being. And Bob is certainly on the same page with that.”

Tonkin already owns one embryo out of “Queen” and by Woody Be Tuff, so adding her to program is a no-brainer.

“Bob has added some of the best genetics in the world to his up-and-coming breeding operation, beginning with embryos out of some of the greatest rope horse mares in our industry,” Solo Select’s Melanie Smith said. “The chance to partner with him on Queen is one we didn’t want to miss, because he understands the value

Big Time Movie Star won the Badlands Bit & Spur Futurity Heading title in 2021 in Rapid City, South Dakota, placing in nearly every futurity she entered in 2022 and 2023 under Baker, Brazile and ARHFA World Champion Joseph Harrison.
