WRWC Advancement

For Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2024 WRWC, the Challenger and Pros each competed in their respective divisions, classified by their Global Handicaps number, in two full rounds of competition. From each division, the top two fastest times in each round advance to Wednesday’s Semifinals, along with the top eight in the aggregate on two runs.

Wednesday afternoon is where the Challenger and Pro divisions ended, and every lady is in the same group with a clean slate format ahead of them. The field of 12 teams will be reduced to three, and those three teams will head to AT&T Stadium for the $60,000 Championship.

Here’s the official advancement formula from the Semifinals to the Showdown Round from the WRWC:

Showdown Round Results

The 12-team Showdown Round took place on May 16, and the Pro team ropers maintained dominance against the pack of challengers. Leading the way to AT&T is one of the most consistent all-girl teams going today: Alabama’s Beverly Robbins and Jessy Remsburg, who won the Showdown Round in a smooth 7.18 seconds.

Behind Robbins and Remsburg, 2022 WRWC champion, Megan Gunter headed for Colorado’s iconic heeler, Jimmi Jo Montera, who also earned the 2024 Pro division Women’s World Championship (Full story coming your way on that title.) The team’s 8.18-second run was enough to secure their spot in the Championship Round during the PBR World Finals on May 18.

Rounding out the star-studded lineup of team ropers, major names Kenna Francis and Whitney Desalvo battled through a non-traditional run to clinch the final qualifying position in 8.88 seconds.

Notably, fourth-place finishers and 2024 Challenger division Women’s World Champions Kelsey Pugmire and Ashtyn Pratz picked up over $15,000 across four runs at the WRWC (full story also on deck for that team), while fellow challengers Tamara Lewis and Cindy Jackson celebrated the end of a $6,900 week in Fort Worth.
