Run’ Em Back: Round 4 Steer Report
Round 4 marks the second run on the first pen of cattle at the 2021 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
STEER

795 Clint Summers and Ross Ashford

Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins were 5.6 on this steer in Round 1. They went and caught him, but he’s a good chance. He did exactly what we thought he’d do from watching him in the run through.

785 Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan

Kaleb and Junior were 4.6 on this steer. He stepped right for Junior, but with a haze he’ll be straight and good for the day money.

797 Tyler Wade and Trey Yates

Erich Rogers and Paden Bray were 4.4 on this steer in Round 1 to win second. They made a good run on that steer and he’s easy.

789 Clay Tryan and Jake Long

Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp were 9.5 (leg) on this steer in Round 1. He’s a chance if he stays straight.

768 Cody Snow and Wesley Thorp

Brenten Hall and Chase Tryan were 10.4 on this steer with a ranch-rodeo-type run. He got in the wall and couldn’t get faced and had to come back around the chutes. There’s nothing special about the steer though.

756 Clay Smith and Jade Corkill

This was the day-money steer for Tyler Wade and Trey Yates for Round 1. With them winning the average, this is a great, straight steer to have. He’s still on the stronger end of them, but with the horse Clay’s riding and the handles he’s giving, they can just go catch and be 4.5.

798 Erich Rogers and Paden Bray

Dustin Egusquiza missed this steer in Round 1.

796 Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira

Clint Summers waved it off this one in Round 1. That’s a good steer and they’re second in the average. Kaleb says he’s going at all 10, but I bet he backs off and just catches him to be 4.

779 Dustin Egusquiza and Travis Graves

Jeremy Buhler roped a leg on this steer to be 9.5. I don’t know why Jeremy roped that leg—that steer looked really good on the run through. I don’t know if the rope slid or the horse stumbled, but the steer hit funky and Jeremy didn’t get a good go.

773 Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison

Derrick Begay and Brady Minor were 4.9 to start off their week on this steer in Round 1. With them out of the average they’ll be gunning for him to be short 4.

792 Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich

Quinn Kesler and Joseph Harrison were 4.8 on this steer in Round 1. He got him around the neck and reached at him and got him on a little bit of long rope. They have a chance and Doug will heel him.

780 Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins

Clay Tryan missed this steer in Round 1. I don’t know what happened on that, but I think Andrew will be under 5 on him.

784 Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin

Coy Rahlmann and Douglas Rich got a leg to be 9.9 on this steer in Round 1. He’s still a chance there.

787 Derrick Begay and Brady Minor

Clay Smith and Jade Corkill were 4.9 on this one. That’s a good chance—Clay and Jade just went and jackpotted him, so if they go at him he’ll be a go-round chance.

791 Rhen Richard and Jeremy Buhler

Coleman Proctor roped a front leg on this steer in Round 1. He squirted a little bit and was a little level-headed. But he’s a smaller, stouter steer so he should be fast handling.
