With a rich ranching history spanning more than a century, the Four Sixes Ranch has earned its place as one of America’s most iconic and influential operations. Known worldwide for its cattle legacy, the ranch has developed one of the nation’s most advanced equine breeding programs and veterinary facilities over the past 60 years.
Recipient of the AQHA Best Remuda Award, the Four Sixes has produced generations of outstanding ranch and performance horses from its elite broodmare band. As an AQHA All-Time Leading Breeder of Performance Horses, the ranch remains committed to raising exceptional American Quarter Horses that excel in cutting, reined cow horse, reining, roping and ranch work.
“The ranch has been here 154 years and for more than 40 of those, we have offered breeding services to the public,” said Dr. Nathan Canaday, horse division manager and resident veterinarian. “Many people still assume we only handle our own stallions and mares, but we are a full-service commercial breeding facility and operate a comprehensive veterinary clinic, the only one of its kind in the region.”

The ranch’s equine division includes a fully integrated breeding and horse management program supported by experienced veterinarians and staff. Services include on-site breeding, shipped semen, embryo services, foaling and veterinary care tailored to equine reproduction and performance. As a Select Breeders Services (SBS)-affiliated facility, the Four Sixes supports clients across the country and internationally through a full range of reproductive services.
In 2025, the Four Sixes Ranch is proud to announce the addition of its newest facility, the Granbury Stallion Station, a premier stallion showcase and customer-focused center designed to provide greater accessibility for mare owners and supporters of Four Sixes stallions. The flagship Guthrie location will remain the full-service breeding and veterinary facility it has always been.
To further support owners of Four Sixes-bred performance horses, the ranch is also launching the 6666 Incentive which will offer substantial payout opportunities at major events to foals of select ranch stallions. Upon payment of a matching fee, foals will be automatically enrolled for life. The incentive provides lifetime eligibility and is designed to reward the investment of both mare and stallion owners.
Blending progressive technology with the heritage of a working ranch remains central to the Four Sixes philosophy.
“We use the latest equipment, yet our cowboys still gather our broodmare herd horseback,” Canaday said. “Our goal is to raise horses with the athleticism, heart and versatility to work on the ranch and excel in the arena.”
From the broodmare pastures to the Annual Return to the Remuda Sale, the Four Sixes Ranch remains dedicated to preserving its legacy while shaping the future of the American Quarter Horse.
