Newly enrolled in the Royal Crown incentive, Cat Ichi is a proven producer for EE Ranches. National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Hall of Fame member Jo Ellard got her start breeding cutting horses in the 1980s with just seven mares; from there, she created a dynasty with EE Ranches.
A Five Star Equine breeding facility and stallion station, EE Ranches stands their own world-class stallions and offers not just weanlings and yearlings but ready-to-roll prospects with training from another NCHA Hall of Famer, Guy Woods.
EE Ranches’ sires are Cat Ichi and Laker Doc, both sons of the ranch’s superstar broodmare, Laney Doc, who has produced 10 NCHA performers with earnings over $1.5 million. Laker Doc is an AQHA World Champion Junior Cutting Champion who has sired multiple champions in NCHA and AQHA cutting competitions.
Already a superstar producer, Cat Ichi needs no introduction, with progeny earnings over $7 million to date. This son of Highbrow Cat earned $306,191 before moving on to even higher achievements as a sire.
Newly enrolled in the Royal Crown breeding incentive, Cat Ichi’s progeny are proving they can excel well beyond the cutting pen with a PRCA Steer Roping Horse of the Year and American Rope Horse Futurity Association World Champion 4-year-old head horse.
“Cat Ichi was a million-dollar sire with his first foal crop,” Ellard said. “He’s 15.3 hands and 1,200 pounds. He’s a substantial size and real even, and the colts have been really easy to train. I think the ropers have loved what he’s put into his colts.”
